📚 The Situation: Battery Swelling and Slow Charging
A student from Qatar University came to Shooter for Computer with her Dell Latitude 7210 2-in-1, complaining that the battery was swelling and the keyboard wouldn’t close properly.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!“It used to last 4–5 hours. Now it’s overheating, and the screen pops up from one side.”
This is a typical battery swelling issue found in Dell Latitude 7210 models after 1.5–2 years of daily use.
🔍 Diagnosis at Our Workshop
We opened the 7210 carefully and found:
- ❌ Battery swollen and lifting the keyboard frame
- ❌ Rapid charging drop from 100% to 30%
- ✅ Motherboard, SSD, screen all in perfect condition
- ✅ Charging port working correctly
We informed the student and her parents that we had brand-new original Dell 7210 batteries in stock.
🛠️ Replacement Process
- Opened the 2-in-1 back panel with anti-static tools
- Removed the swollen lithium-polymer battery
- Installed an original Dell 40Wh OEM battery
- Updated battery driver firmware in BIOS
- Ran full battery diagnostics and calibration
⏱️ Total time: 1.5–2 hours
🛡️ Warranty: 6 months on the battery
😊 Outcome: Laptop is Safer, Lighter, and Back to Full Power
The student said:
“Now I can use my laptop the whole day without worrying. It feels lighter and doesn’t overheat anymore.”
The keyboard frame also settled properly after the new battery was installed — no more lifting or bulge.
